  HEALTH IS
A PRIVILEGE

A play by Simona Gibejova

A glimpse into the room of a traumatised person

'Health is a Privilege’ is an autobiographical theatre play about surviving trauma and learning how to live life again with invisible disabilities. Accompanied by an original score, the multimedia performance is based on the writer’s award-winning short film of the same name and features original artwork.

"When life is tough and you've got to keep on going - take some pills!"

Let’s put money where it matters
because this is bigger than a theatre.
It’s about letting people see things they didn’t see before!

WHEN IF NOT NOW

Despite mental health becoming a more openly discussed topic, many still lack insight into what a person with an invisible disability has to go through when they are alone which leads to misunderstandings and snap judgements.

Inspired by the positive reception of the award-winning short film upon which the play is based, we observed that individuals who had undergone similar experiences resonated with the subject matter, finding it hopeful, while others sought to learn more about the journey, particularly those whose loved ones were affected.

WHO IF NOT YOU?

Any financial help is greatly appreciated. Sharing this campaign and telling people about the project is essential to reach people who need it the most.

If you donate and would like your name to be mentioned in the theatre play credits, the website, and social media, we will gladly include you. The more the merrier!

RISKS AND CHALLENGES

MONEY TALK

We’ve got the script, the music, and the passion to put on a powerful performance that can change perspectives. But none of that matters if we can’t afford a stage to tell this story on.

More than half of the funds will go towards renting the theatre space for rehearsals and performances, which also includes paying technicians and renting lighting and sound equipment. Additionally, funds will be allocated for acquiring and crafting props, costumes, and set design materials.

We’re aiming to raise £10,000, which may sound like a lot but unfortunately that amount alone won’t cover all of our expenses and the number of performances we hope to achieve. That is why we are applying for additional funding, and chances of receiving these funds improve significantly if we demonstrate existing community support and contributions.

To spread the word about the play, we’ll print and distribute flyers, as well as advertise on Meta platforms, ensuring we reach a broad audience.
